I would translate the signature of your meiji-elephant-bronze tentatively as:
寳 bǎo
宝 zhōu
But I think it should be read "HoShu" which translates as "Treasure Island"
I haven't had time to search in more detail yet. But there was a discussion in this forum some years back, which I link to you at the end of this message.
