Subject:Frontispiece Engei Shashincho - 36 Selected Actors
Posted By: Irwin Tue, Nov 12, 2024 IP: 174.127.209.134 The first of 36 frontispieces appearing in the January 1925 issue of the magazine Engei shashinchō. Would appreciate confirmation of the characters in the cartouches, which I believe read 三十六家選 (その一), 36 Selected Actors (number 1). The actor is 尾上菊五郞 Onoe Kikugorō, I believe but I cannot read the role he is pictured in. The artist is Natori Shunsen. Help, as always, greatly appreciated.
