Subject:Cloisonne Tray ID
Posted By: Victor Martinez Sat, Sep 14, 2024 IP: 71.224.107.189

Hello-
I have this really cool cloisonné tray. I've been researching the marks, and I am confused, because some sources say it shows the marks of Watanabe Seitei and Namikawa Sosuke, and others say it shows the marks of Kinzan and/or Teizan. I can't confirm it as the marks of Seitei/Sosuke, but I can't find any info on a Kinzan or Teizan (aside from Satsuma makers). Can anyone offer any insight?
Thank you

My readings,
帝山 Teizan
錦兆 Kinchō

However, I cannot find a cloisonne artist or painter who fits to the aboves.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you! This is helpful. I couldn't find anything on Teizan either. I'm wondering if maybe he was an artisan in the Sosuke workshop.

I wonder wether this is a Taisho-reflex on Meiji cloisonne from about 1880-90s? The decor of the borders makes me think so. But that is more or less just a guess.
