Subject:Japanese? Tea Set
Posted By: Carlos Fri, Aug 18, 2023 IP: 86.143.117.55

Hi,

I'm new to the forum but was hoping for some help. My wife inherited a tea set that we think is Japanese. I've posted a picture of the mark and an example piece from the set. Any ideas who might have made it and when?

Sorry, the photos aren't great but I can try to take better ones.

Thanks

What you have is Japanese Kutani ware from around the 1930's. Unfortunatly the mark is too blurry to read for me.
Regards,
Martin.

The mark is blurry, difficult to read and possibly upside down but the red ground used for it is associated with the Seto/Nagoya area of Japan and seen on early 20th century wares.

Might want to try to post an better-focused image.

Best regards,

Bill H.
