Subject:A phrase from Nakahara Nantenbo
Posted By: Andrea Wed, May 03, 2023 IP: 87.11.109.247

I think the characters are these:
去国一身仙葉軽
守名千君於山重
The translator, from Chinese, gives me this back: "Ye Jia
Keep the name of thousands of kings in the mountains".
Can anyone help me understand the meaning?
Is the author's age in the signature?
Many thanks for your attention.
Andrea

The correct reading is:
去國一舟似葉輕
高名千古於山重
A boat to a country is as light as a leaf
A high name through the ages is as heavy as a mountain

Two lines from the Song Dynasty poet Li Shizong's
poem titled "Sending Tang Jie"

Middle seal,
白岩窟 Hakugankutsu (Studio name)
Lower seal,
鄧州 Toshu (Dharma name)

With regards,
I.Nagy
