Subject:Another piece: blue white phoenixes dish
Posted By: Peter Sat, Apr 29, 2023 IP: 2003:ed:5f01:bbd:4df Hello, this dragon dish is well painted, but might it be Guangxu? |

Posted By: Bill H Sat, Apr 29, 2023 Here's a shot of the mark. I used my iPhone for the earlier posting but now have returned to the big screen of my PC and see that your plate has a slightly cleaner glaze than the one auctioned, which is explainable if it had a position in the kiln further from its sand floor. The other thing that shows in the patches of reflected light is somewhat of a tactile appearance, where the blue pigment was dotted on the body of the phoenix to suggest feathers and looks to be consistent with the period. |

Posted By: Peter Mon, May 01, 2023 Thank you very much, Bill, I was always wondering, how one can tell an original late Qing piece from a good modern copy, because typical age conditions are often missing. The link is really helpful |
