Subject:Translations Needed, Please: Japanese Tokkuri Box Cover Inner & Outer Surfaces
Posted By: Warren L. Sun, Feb 26, 2023 IP: 172.92.108.49

The contents are a pair of hand-hammered sterling tokkuri with lids, purchased in Nagoya ~1946-1952. I would like to know, if possible, the name of the silversmith, where made, and an approximate date of creation. Also, what is the significance of the red seal on the inner side of the cover?

I promise to post pics of these miniature treasures soon. Thank you!

花鎚目打 - Flower Hammer Finish
純銀温酒器 - Pure Silver Wine Warmer
壹對 - One Pair

Signature,
一樂齋造 - Made by Ichirakusai
Seal,
一樂齋印 - Seal of Ichirakusai

Several silver pieces of the same silversmith are listed on auction sites, but none of them provide any biographical information about him.
Further search revealed that the Ichirakusai signed silver objects were sold from the following Nagoya address.
名古屋市久屋町五丁目 - 5Chome, Hisaya Town, Nagoya City
This town name was used between 1889-1911 in Nagoya City.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so very much, I.Nagy! You've provided a comprehensive translation, along with historical specifics...far beyond my fondest hopes. I'll post pics of the pair, perhaps today, but soon if not. I am sincerely grateful for your assistance.

As promised, here are a few pics of these wee treasures.
Each of the pair is ~112 grams; ~53mm major diameter, 94mm to rim, 130mm overall height.
