Posted By: david leffman Fri, Feb 17, 2023 Many thanks everyone – doh, should have worked that one out myself. From style of dish and painting am assuming Republican period, perhaps made for southeast Asian market. |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Feb 16, 2023 This is a four-character stamped mark of "Made during the Guangxu reign" (Guangxu nian zhi - 光緒年製). The Guangxu period was 1875-1908 in the Qing dynasty. This style of mark probably dates to the Republic era (1908-1949). |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Feb 16, 2023 With my mentor Mike detecting that this mark is by hand and not stamped, I'll have to concede it could be 19th or early 20th century Guangxu period, though the calligrapher is well ahead of those who decorated the piece. I could not find an example of it in the scholarly Mainland China publication “Collection of Classical Markings on Chinese Historical Porcelains” (Zhongguo lidai taoci kuanzhi dadian - 中国历代陶瓷款识大典). |
