Posted By: Bill H Fri, Feb 17, 2023 The red mark in the square border reads Made at Jingdezhen" (Jingdezhen Zhi). Gotheborg.com shows a similar mark in red, albeit in a single-lined border, estimated to date to the mid-1990s. This mark uses a brighter red enamel so looks to be later. I.Nagy would know better, but I believe the last two stacks at the left of the inscription indicates the vase was made at Jingdezhen after the new century dawned in the "Onset of winter" (Lidong - η«ε¬ - 7th-21st November) in the cyclical "Gengchen Year" (εΊθΎ° - 17th in the 60 year cycle), which came around last in the year 2000. |
