Subject:QIANJIANG 11-INCH OVAL PLATTER
Posted By: Bill H Tue, Jan 24, 2023 IP: 64.187.128.23 This is another diversion on behalf of my appraiser pal, a Qianjiang 11-inch oval platter with maidens and an inscription that appears to say it is a demonstration of works by an earlier artist named Gao (高). It apparently has a cyclical date beginning with the stem character Jia (甲), which goes forward with various branch characters from 1924. Unfortunately the branch character is not readable here. I consider this piece to be mainly of "decorative value", as I would put it nicely for my friend but would appreciate other forum input and a better reading if possible. |

Posted By: Bill H Thu, Jan 26, 2023 Hi Rat, appreciate your input. I agree that 1924 is a better date than 1984, considering the painting stylistically. From Gotheborg to Google, not a peep about a porcelain painter named Gao Zhishi (高志示). |
