To make up these scratches and present them as Chinese or Japanese characters is worse than ignorant and insulting - not only to Chinese or Japanese people - but to all educated people of any ethnic background.

These quasi-Oriental paintings could have been acceptable as reasonably competent renderings it the 'artist' had the honesty and courtesy of signing them in their own hand instead of concocting these hen-scratchings.
