Subject:Story told on a Japanese temple bell
Posted By: Gakusei Thu, Oct 27, 2022 IP: 91.96.112.230

Hello Members,

long ago on December 2008 a temple bell arrived from Japan at my home. Since then the meaning of the incised inscription in three fields remained to be elucidated.

I have some clue about the text: two dates, some locations and many names. However, what is the whole story? Is there an occation when the bell was cast (1841)? Is something told about the location in the Daitoku-Ji temple complex? Is the second date a jubilee year (1861)? What about the names, donators?

I would appriciate any comments and completion of my unsufficient efforts very much.

Gakusei
