Subject:Help Identifying a Pottery Mark on Chinese Peach/Plum Brush Wash
Posted By: Suzanne Fri, Oct 21, 2022 IP: 2603:3001:2b90:c000: Good afternoon, Everyone! I have enjoyed using this website to explore Chinese pottery. It has been essential in helping me learn more about the marks on my small collection of BoYun pottery. I would like to ask your help in identifying this mark as well as the writing. It has eluded me for years! I am also uncertain if this brush wash is representative of a peach or a plum. Any estimate on age would also be appreciated. You have my thanks in advance! |

Posted By: Suzanne Mon, Oct 24, 2022 Good afternoon! Thank you so much for your reply!! This gave me the ability to dig into some additional research to figure out the origins of this brush wash. I was not able to identify any other similar Shiwan marks just doing an internet search. Do you know of a specific website for identifying Shiwan pottery marks that you can direct me to? |

Posted By: Suzanne Tue, Oct 25, 2022 Good afternoon! I did a search on your website for other posts on Shiwan pottery and saw several other pieces that have similar characteristics that you have already identified to this bowl. Thank you for your expertise and all of your help! I also found a Canadian art gallery that has many collected Shiwan pieces posted online. It helps to see so many forms, techniques, and examples of Shiwan work. I will include a link to the gallery as well as a picture of a very similar bowl to my own that they identify as a "peach". |
