Subject:2 Unknown Japanese marks
Posted By: Martin Michels Thu, Sep 29, 2022 IP: 2001:1c03:5811:6800:

I have 2 Japanese marks which I can't decipher.

The first is Arita ware with a mark that looks like a Fukagawa mark according the seller. Probably because the logo on top looks like the Koransha orchid, but isn't in my opinion.
However, I can't figure out the name.

The second is Kutani ware with a mark depicting a mountain with stream. The seller thought it was a Fukagawa Seiji mark, which is also not right. I think the first line reads Yamada 山田 (left to right), but again I can't figure out the 3 Kanji on the second line.

So I hope that someone will be so kind to help me with this, Thanks in advance.
Martin.

Pic.1,
深忠製 - Shinchū-sei - Made by Shinchū
The Shinchū 深忠 name comes from combining the first character of the family name Fukagawa 深川 and the first character of the given name Chūji 忠次.
Fukagawa Chūji 深川忠次 1871-1934
Former mayor of Arita.
He was the second son of Fukagawa Eizaemon the founder of Koransha, who started the Fukugawa Porcelain Company (Fukugawa Seiji 深川製磁) in 1894.

Pic.2,
The mark shows mount Fuji with a stream which is the mark of Fukugawa Pocelain Company.
田山 - Tayama or Tazan could be (有)田山 - (Ari)ta-zan (reading from right to left)
波亜波 - Nami Awa ?

With regards,
I.Nagy
