Subject:Okyo Maruyama woodblock help
Posted By: john A Tue, Sep 27, 2022 IP: 67.161.104.229 I have these two woodblock prints which I believe originally were done by Okyo Maruyama. I have found two others with the same depiction I noticed the others I found seemed to look newer or on different paper, but they could just be in better condition. With these scrolls and woodblocks are their originals from the actual artist not done later period and if so, is there a way to tell the difference? I am confused on if these are just done 1880's early 1900's like the few others I saw or if they are older etc.. A google search of"Okyo Maruyama elephant" should show the ones I found. Thanks in advance |

Posted By: peter Wed, Sep 28, 2022 Oukyo is a painter, so any print is done by some publisher to reproduce the original paintings of the master. All the details about the publisher are to be found in the red characters on the left. The numbers in the titles right indicate they are part of two series. |
