The apocryphal mark in seal script reads down and across from the top right as "Made during the Qianlong reign of the Great Qing dynasty" (Da qing qian long nian zhi - 大清乾隆年製). According to the website gotheborg.com, this particular style of mark was used around the mid-20th century or later.
In my opinion, the black underpinnings of the painted surfaces were laid down with transfer prints, a clue indicating that the piece probably was produced in recent times by a decorating workshop in Hong Kong and Macao.
