Subject:Help identifying Japanese Woodblock artist and prints
Posted By: Kyle Sun, Aug 21, 2022 IP: 136.49.184.4

Good day! I have recently come into some Japanese woodblock prints, and some of them I have been able to identify like multiple Kiyoshi Saito Winter in Aizu prints. But we have others that I have no idea where to even start with. I know that the family who collected these lived in Japan in the late 1960s (US military family).

I've attached photos and tried to take close up photos of any marks on the fronts and backs of the pieces.

Any helpful information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

Thanks so much for the assistance!

I do have some other one that I'll likely take photos of today and post later. We have a large folder full of art -- most of which we can identify but some we are having issues with like what I posted.

Thank you so much again!

Here is another set of 4 prints that we have, that I am having trouble identifying. Would you be able to assist with this batch of 4 as well? Really appreciate your help!

These are later reproductions. Were they originals, they would be worth significant money. I saw the most famous one from the series, The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, auctioned for $30,000 back in 2005.

This series has been reproduced more than 1000 times, so the chances of finding an original are small.

Cheers,
Stan
