Subject:Chinese Dish
Posted By: Peter Wed, Jul 06, 2022 IP: 178.115.48.7

Hello.
I'd be grateful to learn more about this presumably Chinese shallow dish which I recently acquired.
I measures c. 19cm in diameter and is quite heavily potted.
It would also be interesting to know what the repeated symbol in the border represents.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi,the dish would date from the tongzhi about 1870 and the repeat character is happiness.Note it is supported by a bat the Chinese for which is Fu the same as happiness so the repeat symbol means double hapiness often used at weddings
