Subject:Translation of these characters
Posted By: Luke Sun, May 29, 2022 IP: 2a02:c7f:623f:2a00:2

Hi,

I inherited a few things and these two small vases have markings on the bottom, I was told they're likely just mass produced early/mid 20th century and unlikely to be anything special. I tried to translate some of it but didn't get far. If anyone could possibly translate these that would be great!

Thanks

Both are apocryphal marks that are read down and across from the top right as 'Made during the Kangxi reign' (Kang xi nian zhi - 康熙年製). The vases indeed are 20th century late bloomers, although polychrome crackle glaze vases of the same configuration and apocryphal Ming marks of 'Made during the Chenghua Reign' first appeared in the late 19th century.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Best regards
