Subject:Laughing Buddha 12" No Mark
Posted By: Kenny G Fri, May 20, 2022 IP: 173.62.2.249

Hello group, I have recently purchased this Laughing Buddha at auction and was hoping that someone could help me with any information. There is no mark. What does that mean? Similar Buddhas sell for $50 - $2,500+ and I would love to have an idea of where this one falls. I'm also looking to sell it so if you also can tell me the best place to list it besides ebay, etsy, poshmark.

Stylistically, you have a late 20th century product. Lacks any of the traditional appearance of the Budai Heshang (Cloth Sack Monk), which look persisted from the Qing era into the Republic Period. The Budai Heshang is an avatar of the Maitreya Buddha.

Best regards,

Bill H.
