Subject:Ming Dynasty Cobalt blue overglaze
Posted By: Rodney Sun, May 01, 2022 IP: 2a01:cb14:aba:700:14

Dear all
I'm a new collector. I would like to know whether cobalt blue was used over glaze during Ming Dynasty? if so under which reign was used for first time?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.
Best regards
Rod

Most sources state that cobalt blue overglaze enamels were not used in China on porcelain until the early 18th century, and possibly a little earlier on Japanese ko Kutani type porcelains and other early ko Imari wares.
