Subject:Hiroshige WB Prints
Posted By: BL Wed, Oct 27, 2021 IP: 74.71.16.159

Hello Everybody,
I recently bought a portfolio of Hiroshige woodblock prints. They are not from the original woodblocks. The portfolio that they came in has some writing on the outside and I'm wondering if that pertains to the publisher. Thanks for any information you can give me.

日本名作圖繪 - Nihon Meisaku Zue - Japanese Materpieces
廣重筆 - Hiroshige-hitsu - Painted by Hiroshige

From the vignette on the folder the age of publishing cannot be determined. Judging from the discoloration it could be from the pre-war era.
Usually, inside of these folders there is an introduction by the publisher with a colophon on a loose-leaf.

With regards,
I.Nagy

I. Nagy- I don't think there is additional information inside the folder but I'll check again. Again thank you for your expertise.
