Subject:Japanese dish with painted landscape - Which mark is this?
Posted By: mark Thu, Oct 07, 2021 IP: 2804:7f0:a083:464b:e

Hi,
I was wondering if this mark is a famous factory name? Could find anything similar. I guess the character in the circle is Katakana "Ku", but I cannot read the others.
Thanks in advance

The Katakana character in the circle is indeed "Ku".
Underneath it says from right to left: Kumagaya 熊谷 Sei 製 (made by Kumagaya), although the name might also be: Kumakaya - Kumagai - Kumakai - Kumatani - Kumaya (Japanese Name Dictionaries).
"Ku" ク might be an abbreviation of the name Kumagaya as a sort of family or company logo (most logical explanation). It was probably a small family business.
Date I.M.O. 1930's.
Regards,
Martin.
