Subject:Japanese modernist vase
Posted By: Mark Adams Thu, Oct 07, 2021 IP: 115.64.226.67

I do hope Mr I.Nagy is reading this post. His expertise is immensely appreciated. As are others.
I just purchased this vase with its original tomobako. It was sold as by Kusube Yaichi (1897-1984). He was a famous/well-known and gifted artist who specialized in the art deco styling amongst others.
Is this by this artist?
Regards,
Mark@imperial

Hello Mark,

The mark underneath the vase is indeed Yaichi 彌弌.
I enlarged your mark a bit and added some of his other marks as well to compare.
Yaichi Kusube did NOT marked his works with Kusube, but with Yaichi or simply Ya 彌.
If you want to know more about him, let me know, I have more info and I think you have my email address.
Regards,
Martin.
