Subject:Unusual signed Japanese black bamboo print with seal
Posted By: Vicky Sat, Sep 18, 2021 IP: 2a02:c7d:f206:b900:7

Hello, This print is incredibly delicate and is made from sectioned very thin paper. Can anyone tell me anything about the work and inscriptions/seal?
Thank you

It is Chinese,
This thin sheet is a rubbing from stone slab.
Pic.1-2,
漢夫子雨竹 - Hanfuzi, Rain and Bamboo (Title of painting)
Poem,
不謝東宮意 丹青獨立名
I don't thank to the crown prince for his own name.....
Pic.3 (Cover)
漢關夫子雨竹 - Han Guanfuzi, Rain and Bamboo
Red seal,
傳潤亭 - Furunting (Publisher or Seller)

Hanfuzi and Han Guanfuzi are the names of Guan Yu 關羽 the famous military general from the Three Kingdoms period.
It is said that this picture was originally painted by him. Later it was carved into stone and found during the Ming Dynasty. Then several copies were made from this original, so this rubbing could have been made from one of these copied engravings.

With regards,
I.Nagy
