Subject:Early B/W Lidded Pot
Posted By: Peter Fri, Sep 17, 2021 IP: 178.165.164.21

I'd be very grateful to learn anything about this blue and white lidded pot, which is being currently used as a sugar pot. I presume that the silver fittings were probably added at a later date.

Also - am I correct in assuming that the addition of silver fittings will normally have a negative effect on the value of such pieces ?

Many thanks for any help whatsoever !

Hi Peter,
The styling of your sugar/other jar is that of Kangxi transitional period circa 1680's.
The silver mounts look to be of Indian origin.
Transitional wares are not my strongest point. So I will leave it up to other members to comment on whether or not it's a genuine one or a copy.
