I´d appreciate any opinions on the age of this Chinese lidded jar.

I originally dismissed it as a post-Republic item, but now I'm not quite so sure.

Any help will be very welcome !

I can see why you think that. It's very unusual design. Especially the lid and top rim design. Not really Chinese. Might even be straits porcelain by way of the design on lid and top rim. But I am unsure as I don't collect/deal with said porcelain.
If it's straits porcelain then early 20th century imo and very collectable atm.
If it's chinese then early PROC.
If it's straits, it's unusual to have female images. Normally straits porcelain is predominantly Phoenix, birds or flowers.
The facial features are the same which is a worry. Normally indicates later production.

I forgot to mention that the Chinese did make straits styled porcelain. But for export mainly as far as I know. The local market thought it was too gaudy.
It's funny actually I was just today talking with someone over a similar lidded jar that he thought was straits. Primarily because of the design around the rim which featured flower design rather than dots. The later is seen on chinese. The flower design rather than a series of dots, according to him, is predominantly Straits!
But I could be wrong here for reasons already outlined in my earlier post reply.
If you could provide images of the inside as well as the lid I may be able to pin down a date for you.

Thanks you for your additional comments - very interesting.
The inside of the jar (looking from above) appears to have an uneven, 'bubbly' surface, unlike many modern examples I've seen - so perhaps this may indeed suggest an early 20th century copy (?).

Unfortunately your additional pictures are not conclusive.
If the interior is uneven/ripply effect then it would be indicative of hand scooped rather than machinery.
This would indicate pre 1960's or there abouts.
Just so you are aware. This faking technique is currently being used by fakers to trick buyers etc.
The inside of the lid should be free from high gloss enamels and show signs of bubbles, iron marks not look like it was made yesterday.
