(The picture depicts Lady Matsushima fighting off the open infatuation of Tomotoki (Son of the Regent Hōjō Yoshitoki -  an early 13th c. story)

揚洲周延筆 - Painted by Yōshū Chikanobu
(Yōshũ Chikanobu 1838-1912)

This print was published in 1886

Seriously I. Nagy I am Humbled by your Knowledge! I find no one else even on Asian Art Forum that can compare. There might be a few out there with your knowledge in Translating but the one thing that really blows my mind is your talent in translating Chinese / Japanese Artist Seal Stamps! Really I know no one that can do that ... Most of these Seals are ancient Calligraphy ... Wow! keep up the good work Thank You! I do wish I had the third Woodblock to that early Triptych! That is quite a great piece and needs to be complete. Best Regards, Gary K
