I would much appreciate some information on this Asian statue bronze. I was told it is sand cast Thank you for any info

Hi,

Stylistically, that figure is definitely Chinese.

The way to tell if it's bronze or not is A: is it magnetic (if it is then it's painted iron). It should also be cold to the touch. If you scratch it a little bit (discreetly under the base) the metal underneath should be gold in colour.

Whatever the case, this one has been filled to make it heavier. It might have had a base at some point to conceal this. This was done sometimes for stability but more often that not because the heavier the bronze, the more valuable it is.

I'd guess this piece in 2nd half of the 20th century.
