Subject:Tang Horse

I found this statue of a horse at a local antiques shop, I did not pick it up yet.
I was wondering if anyone could share some knowledge on this piece, cause I am far from an expert on the matter. I am not sure if the large crack devalues the piece heavily.
Measurements are 22 x 20 inches.

I don't think it is Tang. I don't even think it is Asian. The faux Chinese characters suggest a western origin trying to emulate Asian art.
