Subject:Chinese mark on Rose Canton plate
Posted By: Ian E Tue, Jun 08, 2021 IP: 86.0.150.215

Hi, I have a mark I am struggling with on a plate. At first I thought it was an honourific reign mark, but it doesn't appear so. I can pick out three of the characters, but I'm now stuck, any help appreciated.

The plate looks to be an early 20th century piece of rose Canton.

義謙堂龍年製 - Made in the Year of Dragon at Yì Qiān Táng (Hall)

I think this is a fake mark.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Many thanks, and I think you are right, it probably is just a made up name. The plate is probably inter-war at the earliest.
