Subject:Japanese Satsuma mark
Posted By: Ian E Sat, May 22, 2021 IP: 86.0.150.215

Hi there, I have a mark on a Satsuma jar I have been struggling with, please see image.

The right most column is of course 大日本 Dai Nihon

The center column I believe is 薩广国 (Satsuma kuni)

The left most column I have been struggling with, I tentatively have 九恒画 but this does not seem to fit with any Satsuma makers I can reference, so I suspect it is wrong.

The item itself is a lidded jar, cream ground with chrysanthemums etc. It would appear to be late Meiji or Taisho.

Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance.

I read it,
元貞画 - Motosada-ga - Painted by Motosada

With regards,

Many thanks, that does look like a much better reading than my attempt.
