Subject:inquiry about asian object

hello,
i inherited this object but have no idea what it is! It measures approx. 6" x 9" and is made of what appears to be brass or bronze with a stone inlay. On the back is cardboard backing. Any ideas would be appreciated. I feel it is Asian because it came from my grandmother's estate and her father lived in China in the early 1900's.
