Subject:Maybe A Very Early Gelug Tibetan Buddhist Thangka Painting? Information Needed
Posted By: Gary Knudtzon Wed, May 12, 2021 IP: 2601:602:681:1290:e1

Thanks for the Great Forum! Needing the Date and any other Information on this what looks to be a very old "Gelug (Yellow Hat) Tibetan Buddhist Thangka Painting. Unfortunately lots of paint loss and wear but overall not to bad and displayable. Measures 20 x 14 Inches and is on woven fairly thick cloth. Very dark aged cloth as you can see on the back but has double sticky sided paper attached to the back when it was stuck to a larger cloth and then framed back in the 1960's I think. I was able to remove some of the backing paper and revealed some writing. The words are repeated many times on the back and would like to know what it says if possible also. Thank You for your Time and Expert opinions! Gary K
