Subject:Anyone recognize this mark on Porcelain cup?
Posted By: Roger Fri, Apr 02, 2021 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:9

Hi All,
I would greatly appreciate any help in identifying this cup. I believe it is Japanese but I've been unable to identify the mark on the base. Thanks for looking!

It is Japanese Arita porcelain,
Marking reads,
弥左ヱ門 - Yasaemon

With regards,

Roger,
The mark reads: Yazaemon 弥左エ門.

The modern brand name of the Yazaemon kiln nowadays is: "Arita Porcelain Lab". The current president is Yazaemon 7th, Satoru Matsumoto. He was called upon by his family to take over the family business in 2001.

I'm not sure when this cup was made, could be late 20th century, might even be 21th century.

Regards,
Martin.
