Subject:Bentwood Pagoda (?)- What is it?
Posted By: Michael Sat, Mar 27, 2021 IP: 2601:646:4000:39f0:e

Hi Board,

Have a mystery item. Not sure of its country of origin, purpose, or age. Any insights are appreciated.

Very light wood, almost like a balsa wood. I added some glassware to ref the size of it. Thanks, Michael

They are Japanese o-zens, used in Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples to serve festive foods (fruits etc.) for Gods.
The flowers on the sides were implemented by a later owner (foreigner).
Blue stamp print on the side reads,
壹等品 - Ittōhin - First class product

Could be from pre-WW2 times.

With regards,
I.Nagy
