Dear Mike,

Your scroll is Japanese,
Inscriptions read,
古法眼元信圖 - *Kohōgan Motonobu-zu - Picture of
Kohōgan (Old Eye of Law) Motonobu
白心齊永琳画 - Painted by Hakushinsai Eirin
Seal,
字充夫 - Ji (Nickname) : Mitsuo or Michio

*Kohōgan Motonobu
Kanō Motonobu 1476-1559 Kanō School painter
His pesudonym was Kohōgan

Hakushinsai Eirin
Hakushinsai is a pseudonym.
Real name: Kanō Eirin
Supposed to be the 13th generation of the Kyōto Kanō School painters. Kyōto Kanō School gradulally lost its influence, but temporally revived in the in the time of the 9th generation at the end of Edo period. Continued until the 12th generation Eisho
(1909-1983). According to some unsubstantiated informaton the 13th generation, named Eirin has lived in Ǒsaka.

This is all the information I do have at hand about Eirin.

With regards,
I.Nagy
