Celestial Nymph

The graceful sculpture depicts a nymph standing in tribhanga (triple flexion) under a tree in full bloom holding a lotus bud in both hands, and adorned with elaborate jewellery. A diminutive attendant is putting the finishing touches to her dress by slipping an anklet over her foot.

Sculptures of this type were installed as brackets supporting the ceiling of an open hall in the temple.
