Mani Wall with Horns, Gemi At the entrance to Gemi village is a wall mounted with prayer wheels. As one leaves and enters, the cylinders packed with prayers are spun and their blessing multiplied. The outer end of this wall is crowned with yak horns to placate the earth gods and is splashed with the colours of the rigsum gonpo. Here yellow ochre is substituted for the red of Manjushri and protective red colours the body of the wall. (26) © Copyright 1998 Robert Powell |
