House with Rigsum Gonpo, Tangbe II
59 x 81 cm

The rigsum gonpo are the three great popular gods and representations of them come in all sizes, forms and materials. Often seen as a group of three Chorten, their popular role as protectors or guardians means that their presence can be invoked as engravings on rocks, as pointings on walls, as woodblock prints, or simply as three running splashes of colour.

to the right of the door is a ram's skull Earth Door to protect against earth demons. to the left is yoke for ploughing with cattle. Prayer flags surmount the rigsum gonpo group.
