| A young woman at Barkhor waits for her turn to enter the Jokhang temple in Lhasa. Jokhang is the most revered religious structure in Tibet. Pilgrims come from all over the country to pay homage to Jokhang. Located in the very heart of Lhasa’s colorful Tibetan quarter, Jokhang is the focus of devotion day and night. Multitudes of Tibetans circle it while going round and round the barkhor, gaining spiritual merit. This, the spiritual centre of Tibet, is also the heart of Lhasa. |
