AVALOKITESVARA |
A masterfully carved and fine example of the classical Angkor Wat period. With all symbols of this popular Buddhist god, a “mala” (rosary), a kalasa (vase containing amrita), and a pustaka (book, symbol of wisdom), the lower right arm, which was originally holding a lotusbud is broken away. Three fish tail ornaments. The crown finely engraved with lotus and precious stone patterns, comprising strings of pearls. Good and original condition, with a beautiful light and natural weathered patina and a smooth polished surface.
