A
pink Sandstone Bust of two addorsed tree dryads |
The sculpture once formed part of an end bracket between two arches or lintels on one of the gateways to a temple. Each of the female tree spirits has a slightly contemplative expression to her face. Each wears elaborate, heavy earrings typical of this period, and a rich beaded necklace falls between her ample breasts. Compare fig S29 “Indian Sculpture” Pal, Vol.1 |
