This mother spends summers herding sheep and yak from her family’s black yak wool tent on a plain hundreds of kilometers north of Lhasa. She is like thousands of other nomads who will make the journey to Lhasa to pray at the Jokhang once or many times in her life, often during winter, when demands of crops and herds are fewer. |
