A fine wooden Temple Strut, depicting Hanuman
Nepal
Circa 15th century
Height: 30" (75cm)

The strut well carved with a figure of a victorious Hanuman, the monkey god standing with one hand on his knee, astride two vanquished figures who are seated on rockwork. The deity wearing an elaborate crown and ornaments, his dhoti gathered to fall about his legs, an ornamental sash to the front and the back; a celestial scarf swirls about his shoulders.
