Brushpot
Late 16th/early 17th century
Signed with a poem in seal script by Sun Kehing (1532-1610)
Huanghuali with silver inlay
6 3/8 x 6 3/4 inches (16.2 x 17.1 cm)

Translation of calligraphy on reverse side:
There are new branches and green grass coming out on the old parts of the tree. The shiny moon, masked by mountain mist, seems to climb upon the shadows of the willow tree. From a certain distance, this view looks like the moon lying on musical strings.
