Pakistan Bronze Age Pendant of a Female Figure on Horseback
Pakistan
2nd Millennium B.C.
bronze
Height 6

Pendant

Large Bronze pendant, representing a female figure (possibly a deity) with elaborate hairdo seated side saddle on horseback.

This very rare representation, found in Baluchistan, exists in three-dimensional form in bronzes from Iran from the late 2nd Millennium B.C. This piece exhibits a beautiful crystallized patina that matches several other Kohl vessels with which it was excavated that can be dated from the early 2nd to mid 2nd Millennium B.C.
