Rare Portrait of Lama Kha-cio-wang-po
Tibet
15th c.
Gilt Copper
22cm - 9in

Lama Kha-cio-wang-po

The inscription on the back reads:
"Honour to the Glorious Kha-cio-wang-po, Hod-pa-dzin-pa,, the Red Hat. Image made out of copper alloy which is his emanation".

The style of the decorated silk brocade dress of the Second Scia-mar seems to be strongly influenced by the contacts of the followers of the Kagyupa School with the Chinese court during Ming dynasty, particularly in Yongle period, with the Emperor Chengzu.
