By Arthur Millner, specialist and writer on Indian and Islamic Art.
A fascinating talk examining the long standing craft tradition in India which has evolved under different waves of foreign influence. From the European colonial influence of expatriate foreigners to the influx of imported European goods in the Victorian era that revived the traditional crafts, the lecture focuses on the extraordinary range of forms, techniques and materials, and the wide geographical spread across the subcontinent. Many of these traditions survive today in modern India.
