Katabori, stained ivory; a large and powerful group of an eagle grasping a hare in its talons, the hare looking up at the eagle, its flattened side forming the base, the featherwork on the bird's left leg slightly worn through handling, the feathers on the back very carefully worked, the eyes inlaid in horn, those of the eagle also in shell, the himotoshi formed by almost equal holes in the back
